Kids Ear Piercings
We’re proud and honored to offer children’s ear piercings! It’s a special experience to be part of your kiddo’s first piercing, and we know it can feel a little nerve-wracking—for both kids and parents.
That’s why our team is committed to being patient, gentle, and supportive every step of the way. Our professional piercers are members of the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) and regularly continue their education to ensure a safe, smooth, and comfortable experience.
Please take a moment to read our policies below before booking, so you and your kiddo are fully prepared!
Before Booking - Policies
1. Age Restrictions
Leanne offers children’s ear piercings for ages 4 years to 10 years of age. Cassandra and Carlie offers Tandem children’s ear piercings as well.
2. Communicating with your child / Consent
Ensure your child is aware they will be getting their ears pierced and it is not a surprise. At our studio we advocate for your child’s consent and want your child to fully understand what getting their ears pierced entails. If your child has anxiety or is afraid of needles, it is crucial they understand they are in charge and will not be pressured or forced into the piercing. If your child is demonstrating behaviors indicating they do not want the piercing by not consenting verbally (saying no) or showing negative physical signs (ie. pulling away, touching the piercer, covering their ears, excessive crying / extreme anxiety ..etc), we will not pierce them. We strive to create a calm and inviting environment for your child’s experience and understand most children have some anxiety, however the appointment time is limited and if we find they are not ready by a certain point in the appointment we will ask to re-book for another day when they feel more ready. If you don’t think your child is ready we ask that you hold off until you feel they are ready.
3. If we don’t do the piercing
Regular Kid’s ear piercing appointment - At the appointment if your child is not ready for the piercing, we will offer to re-book you for another time and the deposit will be moved over. At the appointment if they do not want to do the piercing and we decide not to re-book, the deposit will be refunded. During the appointment, if we progress to opening our sterile packaging in the room and the child is not consenting to get pierced so we do not do the piercing, there will be a $20 charge for set up fees. If the first lobe is pierced but your child decides they do not want to do the second ear, we can re-book to do the other ear for when they are more prepared.
Tandem Kid’s piercing appointment - At the appointment if your child is not ready for the piercing, we will offer to re-book you for another time, whether you choose to re-book or not, the deposit will be forfeited. During the appointment, if we open our sterile packaging in the room and the child is not ready for the piercing resulting in us not doing the piercing, there will be a $20 set up fee charged.
4. Regular Piercing VS Tandem
A regular child’s ear piercing is booked with one piercer and is done one ear at a time. Tandem ear piercings are done by 2 piercers who pierce at the same time. We recommend the Tandem piercing if your child has a bit more anxiety. You know your child best and we recommend you book the service you and your child feel would be best. Tandem piercings start at $153.93 after tax and Regular starts at $143.43 after tax. Tandem must call to book (306)384-5454. Regular kids piercing can be booked online. Both require a deposit to hold the appointment.
5. Studio Policies
When booking you will be sent a release form to fill out online prior, we ask you do this as it saves time at your appointment. When filling it out please ensure you are putting your child’s information, not yours. If you have questions or concerns you can always give us a call. If you are having issues filling out the form online we do offer paper release forms, ensure you arrive 10 minutes prior to fill out the release forms in person. For minors, we do also have a small minor consent form that has to be filled out at the studio by parent or legal guardian, ensure you are here 5 minutes early to fill it out. If you are not early and the release form is not filled out online prior it impacts the appointment time and we will have to reschedule or cancel your appointment.
We require PHYSICAL GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID from BOTH CHILD and PARENT / LEGAL GUARDIAN, no exceptions. ID for your child can be health card, birth certificate, passport, treaty card, Saskatchewan ID card. The physical ID’s must be present at the appointment or we cannot service you, (no photos will be accepted). If you are the legal guardian, we require to see legal documentation confirming guardianship. Acceptable forms include a court-appointed guardianship order or official documentation from a social worker verifying your status as the legal guardian of the minor. If you do not have the physical ID or the paperwork for guardianship at your appointment, you will forfeit your deposit.
We are an adult setting and do not allow babies or children under 12 years in the studio unless they are receiving a service. We kindly ask you find childcare for any siblings or family members that are babies or under 12 years of age that are not receiving a service. If multiple children are receiving a service back to back, ensure you have another adult with you to wait in the lobby with one child while the other is in their service. For parents that also want to receive a service after their child’s, ensure you have another adult with you to watch your child while you are in your service, as they are not allowed in the piercing room or in the lobby unattended. If another adult is not with you, you will be forfeited your deposit and will have to re book for a later date. * If you attempt to leave your child / other children in the car unattended, outside or in what we determine an unsafe environment, the appointment will automatically be cancelled, your deposit will be forfeited and we may have to involve CPS. * These policies are in place for safety and liability reasons.
We know it can be very exciting for everyone when a child receives their first piercing. We kindly ask that no more than 2 people accompany the appointment. Our front waiting room is small and it can get crowded fast. Extra people will be asked to wait outside. We only allow ONE parent / Guardian / Adult in the room with the child getting their piercing. Anyone else will be asked to wait in the lobby or outside.
Cancellation Policy -
Regular Child’s ear piercing appointment - If you need to cancel your appointment we require minimum 3 hours notice to receive a refund for your deposit. You can cancel online or give us a call (306)384-5454. If you are just needing to change the date, you can re book online or give us a call and we can help re book your appointment.
Tandem Child’s Ear piercing appointment - If you need to cancel your appointment we require minimum 24 hours notice to receive a refund for your deposit. Please call (306)384-5454 or email tantrix@sasktel.net to cancel or re book a tandem piercing. We require more notice for tandem piercings as they take up 2 appointment spots for 2 different piercers.
Illness -
If your child is showing signs of illness we ask you cancel and re-book. We find children generally have a much harder time healing piercings when they are sick and can have more complications. We also have staff that have autoimmune disorders and would like to keep everyone safe! We can re-book them when they are feeling better and healthy.
6. Numbing Cream
We only allow numbing cream for children’s ear piercings. Numbing cream is generally recommended if you feel it will help ease your child’s anxiety about the piercing hurting. If you decide to use numbing cream we recommend getting it from a pharmacy. Ensure you apply the numbing cream 30-45 minutes prior to your appointment and wrap their ears in plastic wrap. We will help remove and clean the cream from your child’s ear at the appointment. If your child is on any medication or has any medical conditions we recommend consulting with your pharmacist prior. We cannot help you apply the numbing cream prior due to liability reasons as well as it is out of our scope.
7. To prepare
Ensure you arrive at your appointment with your child’s hair up off their ears.
Please watch the video(s) attached below before your appointment. It helps your child know what to expect before their appointment.
We have an aftercare page for kids ear piercings you can read through prior as well. - attached at the bottom of the page.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Parent or legal guardian must be present to sign at the appointment.
We also recommend checking out www.safepiercing.org for more in depth information on jewellery and piercings.
8. Jewellery
We only carry high quality body jewellery that is compliant with The Association of Professional Piercers (APP). We use ASTM F 136 Implant grade titanium, Solid 14kt & 18kt Gold, and Niobium that is verified with MIL certificates. Titanium is the most body compatible material as it is a light weight material, and does not contain any other material such as nickel which is what most people are allergic to if they have a metal allergy. For children’s ear piercings we start out with a threadless style stud. The post is Titanium and is a flat back. We have titanium tops that are included in the listed base price of the piercing, you are also able to upgrade the top to a different colour gem, opal or decorative piece as well - you would just pay the difference! When we pierce anybody, we start out with a post or “backing” that is a bit longer to accommodate any swelling that can occur. You will come in at a later time - that the piercer recommends - to shorten the post, we refer to this as a downsize. There is no service fee, just the cost of jewellery. Jewellery is not permanent and it is meant to come out / be removed. As jewellery is not permanent and designed to be able to be removed or changed, we recommend regularly checking your child’s jewellery. Kids are a bit more rough with piercings as they generally are more active and play. Your piercer will go over how to ensure the jewellery is tight and secure, with you at the appointment. There is no warranty on lost jewellery. If you have any issues with jewellery we are more than happy to help!
9. About us
We’re proud to be one of Saskatoon's leading piercing studios, known for our commitment to safety, cleanliness, and professionalism. Your health and comfort are our top priorities, and we go above and beyond to ensure every piercing is performed with the highest standards.
We exclusively use sterilized, bevelled piercing needles—never piercing guns—and the majority of our tools are single-use. For the few tools that are reusable (such as hemostats and clamps), we follow a rigorous reprocessing protocol, including extensive cleaning and sterilization using our Tuttnauer autoclave.
To ensure continued safety, we conduct scheduled spore testing every few weeks through the College of Dentistry and submit all test results to the Association of Professional Piercers (APP). All of our single-use items—needles, tapers, gloves, piercing packs, and more—come pre-sterilized in sealed, individual packaging. Most of our jewelry is also pre-sterilized and packaged; if not, it will be sterilized on-site in our Statim autoclave at the time of your appointment.
Our piercers are proud APP members and are dedicated to ongoing education to stay current with industry standards and techniques. Whether you're coming in for your first piercing or your tenth, we’re here to answer your questions and support you every step of the way.
